Value Logistics is seeking a skilled and reliable Handyman to carry out building maintenance and repair work across its facilities. The role requires practical technical skills, strong supervisory ability, and an eye for safety and compliance.

The successful candidate will perform plumbing and building repairs, manage job cards, obtain quotes, and oversee a small team to ensure all work is completed to the highest standards.

Purpose of the Job

The Handyman Gauteng position involves maintaining the operational integrity of Value Logistics’ buildings. Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical, and structural repairs, as well as supervising staff, managing tools, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

• Carry out plumbing and general building maintenance tasks.

• Identify faults and implement effective repairs promptly.

• Ensure all building-related work is completed within agreed timeframes.

Job & Tool Management

• Open and close job cards accurately.

• Maintain and safeguard tools and equipment.

• Compile detailed reports on completed work for tracking and compliance.

Procurement & Costing Support

• Obtain quotes for building repairs, tools, and materials.

• Assist with managing costs and ensuring value for money in procurement.

Supervision & Team Support

• Supervise subordinates in carrying out repair and maintenance tasks.

• Provide on-the-job guidance and ensure work meets quality and safety standards.

Conduct, Housekeeping & Safety Compliance

• Comply with occupational health and safety procedures.

• Enforce safety regulations within the team.

• Ensure a clean and safe working environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).

• Prior experience in a building maintenance environment.

Skills Required

• Competence in tool handling and equipment management.

• Strong technical and maintenance skills.

• Ability to compile reports and maintain accurate records.

• Supervisory and leadership ability.

• Basic electrical and plumbing knowledge.

• Understanding of generator and fire pump operations.
