Role Overview

The Service Manager will provide technical expertise and leadership within the Rental service team. This includes overseeing machine checks, repairs, servicing, and pre-delivery inspections. The role also involves coordinating workshop activities, supporting technicians, and ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and control the workflow of all rental units.

  • Attend weekly production meetings and hold toolbox meetings with workshop staff.

  • Provide technical guidance, diagnostic support, and advice to technicians.

  • Ensure accurate and cost-effective fault diagnosis and repairs.

  • Oversee quotes, inspections, load testing, servicing, and return of machines to Ready Bay Centre.

  • Maintain SHEQ & ISO compliance in STR work bays.

  • Custodian of all service and parts manuals.

  • Draft and prepare reports for management as required.

  • Identify training needs and coordinate development for workshop staff.

  • Ensure effective communication with staff, departments, customers, and service providers.

  • Conduct weekly stock counts of STR workshop units.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric certificate.

  • Auto Electric, Forklift, or IC trade test certificate required.

  • Forklift experience, preferably with Crown and Doosan equipment.

  • Basic mechanical systems knowledge is advantageous.

  • Proficient computer skills.

  • A forklift license and a valid driver’s license.

  • Strong customer communication skills and team orientation.
