JOB OVERVIEW
Nonke Petroleum (Pty) Ltd is a fuel distribution company operating across KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. The company is currently seeking a Fleet Controller to join its head office team in Verulam, Durban.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing fleet operations, supervising drivers, monitoring vehicle movements, and ensuring efficient and compliant transport delivery operations within a fast-paced logistics environment.
This role is suited for an experienced transport or logistics professional with strong leadership ability and attention to operational detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Briefing and debriefing of drivers before and after trips
- Planning and managing daily routing and scheduling of deliveries
- Monitoring fleet movements using tracking systems (C-track, Drive-cam)
- Ensuring effective vehicle utilisation across all assigned routes
- Analysing trip sheets and tachograph data for accuracy and compliance
- Compiling operational and performance reports
- Supervising driver conduct and maintaining discipline
- Ensuring compliance with company transport procedures and safety standards
- Assisting with administrative fleet management tasks
- Compiling and signing off on driver wages
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Road Transport Diploma (advantageous) or currently studying towards it
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in transport operations (supervisory level preferred)
- Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office essential)
- Experience with fleet systems such as Pastel, C-track, and Drive-cam
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is based in Verulam, Durban, within a busy fuel distribution and logistics operation. The role requires close coordination with drivers, dispatch teams, and management to ensure the timely and safe delivery of petroleum products.
Fleet control is a critical function in maintaining operational efficiency, safety compliance, and customer service standards within the transport division.
